Pinarello Bolide F bike frame: Unleashing Speed in Time Trialing
If you are considering buying a Pinarello Bolide F, you are very serious about your time trialing. And you will be getting what Pinarello calls its fastest bike to date. The Bolide as a style name has been around for quite a while, but the Bolide F takes recent advancements in CFD technology and creates a whole new level of what an epically efficient aero frame can be.
Though Pinarello went through a phase when the waves on their frames had at least as much style as substance, every square inch of the Bolide F has been sculpted with a purpose and using the latest advancements in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) design capabilities. Having the capability to design and test in a virtual setting made it possible to refine and improve the aerodynamic properties of the Bolide although disc brakes are inherently less aero or at least harder to hide than rim brakes.
A lot of the aero improvement comes thanks to the in-house Most aero basebar and aero extensions. And just like the pros, you can have Pinarello custom 3D-printed titanium aero extensions for personalized comfort as well. The Bolide fork has also received a slight redesign that improves its overall aerodynamics with the fork legs cutting through the air and the fork flaps smoothing out the airflow over the disc brake region. With an optimized airfoil section, the sloping top tube will also cut nicely through the wind while the Twin Force seatpost clamp will keep out of the way and hold your seatpost solidly in place waiting for the next serious acceleration.
The Bolide F also surpasses the older version in terms of rigidity and responsiveness. Using the super elite TorayCa M40X carbon with a new layup, the rider’s raw power translates even more fully into speed. Pinarello claims that the bottom bracket increases an incredible 17% in stiffness while the head tube stiffness gets a 7% increase, while the fork stiffness increases by 12%. Considering how efficient the original Bolide was, those are insane improvement numbers.
Unlock Your Competitive Edge with the Bolide F
All these improvements have not come at the expense of weight, since the Bolide F shaves 170 grams off the former Bolide, which was already pretty light for a time trial bike. Since it has been designed to send the Team Ineos riders high into the overall classification of Grand Tours, the Bolide F is UCI compliant, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t work equally well for triathlons or non-UCI related races. With its low weight and agile handling, the Pinarello Bolide F will give you the edge.
